Keys to the Heart – A Tribute to Paul Tillotson

The 2025 Eagle Jazz & Blues Fest is set to deliver an unforgettable celebration of music, legacy, and community, highlighted by a heartfelt tribute to one of Idaho’s most beloved jazz pianists, Paul Tillotson.

Join us on Saturday, September 20th, for the festival’s Main Stage Event, Keys to the Heart: A Tribute to Paul Tillotson, at the beautiful Eagle River Ballroom in the Hilton Garden Inn. From 6:00 to 7:30 PM (early show) and 8:30-10:00 PM (late show), world-class jazz musicians, including longtime friends and collaborators of Paul, will take the stage to honor his memory with an evening of extraordinary performances filled with the joy, passion, and spirit he brought to the world of jazz. (Justin Nielsen on piano, Mike Merritt on bass, and James Wormworth on drums. Appearances by Jake Stigers on vocals and Thomas Hutchings on saxophone.)

Paul Tillotson’s influence on the jazz community was profound, and his music continues to inspire artists and fans alike. Keys to the Heart will not only celebrate his legacy but also bring together musicians who shared the stage and deep friendships with him, making this a truly special experience for all in attendance.

The Eagle Jazz & Blues Fest Weekend

While Keys to the Heart is the centerpiece of this year’s festival, jazz lovers will have plenty of opportunities to immerse themselves in outstanding performances throughout the weekend:

-Friday Night "Groovin' the Night Away" at the Schnitzel Garten in Eagle from 7:30-10:00 PM featuring the Shawn Buckner Group with special guest ShaunB (Shaun Brazell).

- Saturday Free Concert at the Eagle Market – Continue your jazz-filled weekend with an open-air concert in the heart of downtown Eagle (at the Civic Center), from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and great live music as we showcase the Next Generation Jazz Band, with special guests!

- Saturday Night "Jazz Under the Stars" Concerts – In addition to the tribute concert at the Hilton, jazz fans can attend this special patio experience at Olive and Vyne, located within walking distance. Come and hear the Jon Armstrong Quitet featuring Jenna Mclean on vocals. Two shows are scheduled, 6:30-8:00 PM (early show) and 8:30-10:00 PM (late show).
